Another bright DIY idea: Use lamp cord kits to turn old hats into pendant lamps.

Cautionary note (stating the obvious, but still) for anyone making pendant lamps: To help prevent potential overheating when lamps are turned on, be sure to leave some air space around the top of the socket and the lamp shade, and ensure that the bulb and shade won’t touch.
